A Black journalist in New York goes on the run from the police after publishing secret documents from a gene editing company. Written by Alfredo Gil and Illustrated by Mojo Wang, Hachimoji is a story about identity in a hectic world, power as it corrupts, and justice for the truth.
In over 200 full color pages, Volume 1 introduces Jamie and his anxious friends who are unified in rebelling but divided in a purpose. We fly into the high echelons of power determined to track them down but plagued by infighting. In this 2042 high speed chase story, our genes hold the key to our power.
Alfredo is a writer, photographer, and abolitionist organizer based in New York City. His debut graphic novel tackles power, corruption, and justice in the Black sci-fi adventure he always wanted. Hachimoji is both a love letter and warning to NYC, a celebration of young courage, and an inventive world where unchecked power is challenged.
Mojo Wang is an illustrator and comic artist whose work has been recognized by the Society of Illustrators, the National Museum of American Illustration, and publications like NY Times, The Guardian, New Yorker, and many more. His work focuses on blurring the boundaries between editorial illustrations and visual narrative.
